photo of the PPV on track - splitter adds visual balance by extending front end - not so easy to see in this picture

full disclosure--I was not the driver. Ed Runnion was there with a cheesy rental car, and I suggested he just drive the PPV, which he did.

Not prepped, no air pressure adjustments from my standard settings, using Conti DSW all-season tires (255/45-18). Wasn't slowest, but far from fastest, but many/most faster had much more prep, power, etc.

Wow! Tiny world!! I know Ed. He's a good guy, and a great driver. He's been to Nationals many more times than we have. He used to live in Houston, where he got his 96 SS. We were members of HAIL (Houston Area Impala Lovers) club together.

And yeah, when you show up with an underdog, it's fun to see just who you can beat! That's usually what we do when we take the Tahoe or the Caprice to an event instead of our Firebird.

interesting timing juncture--we're in the process of getting material TODAY to see if the one-off can become a part available for others--it would be of a lesser material than this "one-off", but also at a lower total cost. Nothing more to report until material is in hand and it's characteristics and workability have been evaluated.

Progress!

That is progress. Glad to see that this is still in the works. I'm still thinking about getting one.

So today, we took a piece of material and roughed it out to figure what is going to be the best approach to cutting the final shape. This first part (the black plastic piece with white tape on it) will be the part used to make all production parts. The material being used for this initial run is High Molecular Weight Poly something sheet, approximately 0.375" thick. It does NOT have a composite fiber outer surface like the original part in the picture--but any graphics shop or skilled person should be able to put a "wrap" on the part to give it any look desired, including carbon fiber.

At present, we've got enough material on hand to make 5 splitters over & above what is shown here. First task is to prove it will work & fit like the original....the part with the blue tape all over it. Demand will dictate making more.

Can't identify a complete kit cost at this point, but it will include the mounting hardware and the front wheel opening "spats" that tie into the splitter.
