Discussion on body issues/mods, appearance, interior/trim, and detailing (i.e. how to keep your car looking showroom new, or a reasonable facsimile thereof...).

the lack of black upper half is the biggest thing i hate about my ppv and SS , while i love the 2 tone interior of my 06 gto , i really miss the black upper half my G8GT had

GM's reasoning for the lighter upper was said it makes the car feel bigger inside , i think their research group was on some bad drugs when they came up with that !!!
Ha, you don't need to make this baby seem any bigger! I have all black in my Jeep Grand Cherokee, and it looks so much better than this dual color stuff. Amazing how we all have our opinions!

In fact the entire thing is a bitch. I have a couple of mistakes, but I think when its in the car, normal people won't notice.

Indeed! Many, many years ago, I had a friend who would re-do headliners pretty much using the method you showed. He did one for me, and I saw a couple he did for some other friends. Really nice work. He made it look easy.

It can't be all that hard to do, can it?

I tried it, once, on my 89 Impala headliner. I gave up at the second air pocket and took it to an upholsterer who not only did a great job with the headliner, redid the rear quarter panels by the back window and the sun visors.

Like recovering seats, I'll never do that again. You have done an awesome job, considering it was your first.

Try installing a headliner in a car with bows like most 60s cars have. They suck on a totally different level!

I know my limitations. I would not attempt a convertible top either!

The headliner is back in! About half the trim is back on ,but all the wires are connected and everything works. Progress! Photos to follow.

It is all done, except the sunvisors. Still finishing the mirror light wiring (got some black G8 visors). The flash makes the colors look odd, but the blacks actually match, it looks pretty seamless! Happy with it.

I hope to never remove these damn trim parts again!! What a chore getting the front A pillar trim back on.

Kind of like our house when we bought it with the ‘70’s dark brown and gold shag carpet and walnut-stained wood paneling in the family room. You need a 1000 candle-power light in there even in the middle of the day to see anything.

Wow, that’s dark. Nice work, though.
