G8 Wheel and WORKING Paddles in my Console swapped 9C1

Post by Dut_The_SS_nuT »

So, since I did my G8 Console and do have functioning Tapashift, I figured, if it works in the G8, and the G8 shifter works in my Caprice.... Why not try!?!? Well, guess what!? They work! I followed the G8 install instructions precisely, and they function exactly as intended, + shifts up, and - shifts down. The shifter has to be in the Tap gate, just like the G8. But... Figured I’d share.

(Sorry if the picture is huge, I had this figured out on my Android... I’ve since switched to the dark side)

That's cool! I'm still piecing together my G8 console.

I seem to remember you discussing the flappy paddle shifter thing a while back. Good to see it worked. Did you have to wire the steering column, or were the wires already there? Details, please.

I wired it exactly like the G8’s, there is a ground that runs through the clock spring. You relocate that ground to the back of the wheel, by cutting it at the clockspring (before and after the clockspring) and route it to the wire you add for the tap shift! The instructions come with the paddle kits for the G8, and I literally followed it word for word! Took maybe an hour and a half, including all the wait times for the airbag disable and enable

Very interested in this upgrade. Can you tell me which g8 paddle shift kit you got?

Do i need the 2hole console swapped in order for this to work?
