Hood Latch Probs

Post by Numbah1 »

My hood latch is messed up. Cable doesnt have any tension on it. Looked it over and it seems like a return spring is missing. Does any1 know if the Impala latch will fit a 2013? I was on car-part and it brought up impala latches

Which spring are missing? If you are missing the yellow spring, you should be able to find a one close enough to work at a decent hardware store. If you are missing the red one, it may be hard to find. You might get lucky and find something at a salvage yard that will work.

The red 1 is bent on mine. Its between the cable and the latch. I ordered a new 1, got it today and the new latch doesnt have that spring! This 1 is different though, it has a cord that i assume is for electric start. The p/n with and without the E start was the same lol hope it fits

it should still work fine , and help if you ever try to add remote start to it

though that is party of the joy of using a 3rd party parts catalog vs the dealer

Been meaning to update this; the spring came off the original latch. I got I back in place but it still wouldnt hold the hood.

I put the new 1 on and it was the same. Pulled the rubber stops out and it held it, but super tight on the lights. I was debating on redrilling and tapping holes to raise the latch, but milled the bottom of the slots out on it
