CHEVROLET / HOLDEN STEERING WHEEL CENTER

Post by Chev62 »

G’day everyone,
I am new to this forum and this is my first post, but I am very much looking forward to adding my input. Our garage contains some interesting GM vehicles. They are all in brand new condition and are as follows:

Right Hand Drive Export 1962 Chevrolet Impala Sport Sedan
Right Hand Drive 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Monza convertible
Right Hand Drive 1983 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz
Right Hand Drive 2007 Holden Caprice (6 litre V8 with a 6 speed automatic)

I will post some more details about our 2007 Holden Caprice in another post as this vehicle will be of greatest interest to those reading this forum, but for starters I wanted to ask assistance with the following.

I want to re-badge our 2007 ‘Holden’ Caprice as an Export ‘Chevrolet’ Caprice. I have already obtained an Export Chevrolet badge front grille and also the ‘bow tie’ badge for the rear trunk. The single remaining Holden badge that I will want to replace is on the steering wheel centre pad. I am guessing that this might mean replacing the steering wheel air bag?

It did occur to me that there might be someone on this forum that wants to re-badge their USA Chevrolet Caprice as a ‘Holden’ and if they do perhaps we could exchange steering wheel centres. Anyway if anyone is interested then please let me know.

Also, I am very experienced in seeking out and mailing old and obsolete car parts from Australia to the USA. So if I can be of any assistance to anyone in that regard please let me know.
Kind regards ‘from down under’
Carl Kelsen

Hey Carl, welcome from another commonwealth country!

Be careful what you wish for. There will be quite a few on this side of the pond that might take you up on your offer to ship stuff over.

I can't help you with your part search but there are a few selling parts off wrecked Caprices in the US. I tried once to pry a badge off an airbag and it just bent as there are tabs that go into the covering. Another possible solution would be to stick one over the existing one. eBay has some sellers on there that make repros. Just need the exact size.

Nice to see some Aussies on here. Wish you would have found the site a couple months ago.

I got all the Holden badges and now have all the chevy stuff including the airbag pad in the garage.
