Ordering headlights from Australia

Post by shawnjon82 »

Does anybody have any experience with ordering headlights from Australia? And do the Commodore headlights bolt directly into our cars?

their head lights are set up for driving on the wrong side of the road and right hand drive , so they point towards the other side of the road from ours

you want the headlights from the UAE , they are set up like ours

and i wouldnt trust their listing , the commodore is the smaller G8/VE and SS/VF and VF II , the caprice is a STATESMAN/CAPRICE WM and WN

Also keep in mind there are aftermarket headlights available in AU for the caprice. People have ordered them and without fail an internal adjuster part is always broken. They somehow get them working but I do not think they are built to survive the journey. So make sure you know if you are buying GM parts or aftermarket.

However if you get the Factory Holden/GM genuine parts or the aftermarket they wire up the same as long as they are the standard Halogen lights.

They have another option in AU and that is for Xenon HID capsules. Those require larger wires on the power to the ballasts. You can usually identify those capsules from pictures as they have the small triangle of black in the lower part of the lens that is for the washer system.

Info on those here: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3934&p=29494#p29487

Use lookup for Chevrolet Caprice

CV is Chevrolet Middle East

OEM PN's are listed for both chrome & black versions

TYC does have a problem - my experience is exactly as Steve mentioned - internal damage on new headlamp during shipping

Challenge remains getting OEM lights via Holden into US, with no DOT "approved" lens markings. OEM PPV lights are made by Hella, if I could choose what I would like to have, it's the "black" trim - GM 92252984 & 92252985, if any can be found....exclusive Middle East parts.

These headlamps use H7 bulbs for both low & high beams.
