Side Mirror Hit and Run

Discussion on body issues/mods, appearance, interior/trim, and detailing (i.e. how to keep your car looking showroom new, or a reasonable facsimile thereof...).

Random question...Do G8 mirrors fit a Caprice? Or can you order regular Caprice mirrors from Australia?
I feel like body colored mirrors would look better than the flat black.

I think painted mirrors would be a nice upgrade to go along with painted door handles.

I'm getting a pair of heated mirrors (92247733, 92247734).

I'm hoping they connect as easily as Maurice describes ...
After yesterday's freezing rain I'm curious too. Was the wiring already there?

Anyone have the wiring diagram for the '11-13 Caprice side mirrors? I wouldn't mind putting Caprice heated mirrors in my G8 if they bolt on and maybe just a little electrical work.

Mirrors are interchangeable from what I understand. On a 2015 Caprice, the wiring is there and plug and play for heated mirrors even when the car did not come from the factory with them.

Isn't this true for all the Caprices?

I really cant say. I am finding more and more that there are a lot of differences in the electrical architecture of the 2011-2013 cars compared to 2014 on. I just simply have very little experiences with the 11-13s because our department started buying them in 2014 and that is when I started getting a lot of hands on experience with these things. I have been told FWIW by more than a few GM techs that the 2011-2013 Caprice is more like a G8 and the 2014 and newer ones are more like the Camaro from an electrical point of view. I'm not sure exactly what they mean but in the case of the mirrors, the only way to know for sure is to try it.

Garner, you're dead on. 2014 & up uses GM Global A architecture. Completely different exchange of information between modules and more in line with current GM products (look at MyLink for example).

It's like trying to put the round peg in the square hole to swap between 2013 and 2014 in a lot of cases. Chris White can probably go into more depth on the differences if needed, or there's tutorials and FAQ's on the net. Sheet metal and tires still fit though :)

I haven't installed them, yet. I know, two years...

I taped a small round mirror on my damaged housing after the old shattered mirror fell out about a year ago.
