Re: Traction, sport and trunk button plug release.
Found a diagram, don't know if it will help. They arrow pointing on these us usually the way you disconnect them. Wonder if that tang at the front is keeping it in somehow? There an access hole on the case maybe?
Connector Part Information
Harness Type: Instrument Panel Compartment
OEM Connector: 24414934
Service Connector: 88988105
Description: 6-Way F Micro Quadlok Series (BK)
Glad you figured it out. Here is some more info on the wires in the plugs:
So i could not find a connectror view for the sport/traction control button but I did find the wiring diagram so you can see the Tan wire is the signal wire for the traction control. Black is the ground but unsure what red is? Do thise light up in the 9C1? If so then that is positive backlight I would assume.
and the traction control switch. Brown and Orange??

Re: Traction, sport and trunk button plug release.
Thanks Steve very helpful!!!
It turns out there is a nub on the opposit side of the tang. Take a small screwdriver and push it between the plug and switch under the gm symbol.

Re: Traction, sport and trunk button plug release.
Steve,
Would you happen to know if the 9C3 traction control/trunk release button plugs use the same plug as the 9C1 buttons?
Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Traction, sport and trunk button plug release.
They are different. In the 9C3 it is just one plug with about 6 wires in it that is for both functions. On the 9C1 it is 2 diffrent plugs as you can see.
Here is some info on the 9C3 plug:
EDIT: This information is not correct. Look later in this thread for the correct information on the 9C3 plug. I relied on the service manual to hav the correct information, it did not.

Re: Traction, sport and trunk button plug release.
If you need that 9C3 conector it does look like it is available from GM.

Re: Traction, sport and trunk button plug release.
Wow, you know how to source these electrical parts! Much thanks.
Does the g8 use the same plug? If so perhaps I can locate one in a junkyard?

- This may be another option. It's from a Australian VE. Any clue what plug it takes? With the tc and sport in this location I would just move the trunk release to the glove box or elsewhere.

Re: Traction, sport and trunk button plug release.
Yes in searching for those part number I came across discussion on the G8 board. They actually use 2 of those plugs for their cars with the heated seats. someone posted a good mouser part number for the terminals but I could not find the connector. Yea if you can get someone to cut them from the harness go for it.
Re: Traction, sport and trunk button plug release.
Snagged this plug from down under and it's coming with the plug pigtail. From there I'll relocate the trunk release. Should be a good solution I hope.

Re: Traction, sport and trunk button plug release.
Oh so that will turn off the traction control on one button and get it into sport mode shifting on the other one. Do you know if you have the wires for both those functions already? By putting it in sport mode the only thing you will not have is the manual gear select. Which you might be able to accomplish with steering wheel padddles anyway. If you really need it at all. The sport mode is smart enough to select the right gear for you.
Maybe look at the G8 trunk release I believe there is a spot for it in the glove compartment.
