Auxiliary Power Outlet Hot All The Time

Post by Rizzo »

The Auxiliary Power Outlet (APO) on the 2013 9C1 is only on when the key switch is on. I wanted it to be hot all the time, just like the old cars. The best way to do this was to install a jumper from a hot fuse circuit to the APO fuse. I used a fuse extender and crimp connector that are available on line. First I removed the APO fuse and installed a blown fuse with a wire soldered to the APO side. The crimp connector is soldered to the other end of the wire. I removed the right side spotlight fuse, hot all the time, and put the extender in with that fuse, on the spotlight side, and installed the crimp connector. The result is the APO hot all the time fused at 15 amps. The soldered connection was later insulated with liquid tape.
