I'd take a right angle one of either type if they were available.

As for soldering, I think I'm going to use a 3.5mm audio jack to the connector. That will be small enough to slide in the radio. The main harness socket is recessed on the radio, you could just tuck it in there to slide it in.
Then use a 3.5mm to rca splitter to connect to the feeds.

So I'd grab one of these connectors and just use one of the 3.5mm wires from one of these(just because that is what they have in stock at walmart) and solder it to the socket.

Then plug one of these into it, and the video feeds into them.

One more side note on the connector- I know everyone says it is discontinued, and they can't get them for sure, but the entry in the 2016 catalog was revised from the 2014 to remove the pin type models of these. Doesn't really mean anything if you can't get them though :/

Ok, new wire is on :) The Sprint/Radio Shack store had a long 3.5mm extender cable I used.

Still don't know why it was cut so short last time lol, but I have plenty of cord now.

When I get home, I'll hot glue it to the connector.

On the socket, the even pins are on the top row, and in the back row, so the pins are easy to get to. 1 wire to pin 2, and the other to pin 4, and the negative to the shielding on the socket(I'll check the shielding to the negative pin with the meter when I get home to be sure), so if you are ok with soldering, this shouldn't be too hard.

Let's hope it works! ;)

Edit: This is what I mean when I say the pins are easy to get to and solder to. I have arrows pointing to pins 2 and 4 with are the video positives.

91C,

CSC1020-1961BLACK looks like it might be one of the right angle ones. It is going the wrong way for our application but could still work. Did you have any conversation with the guys in China about it? One site shows they have inventory of 960?? Then the next question is is that just connector inventory or is it terminals as well? or do they all come in a kit like?

Let me know. I still have some left over terminals for those connectors so I could make up a few if I could get my hands on the connector shell.

I had conversations with a few in China. PM me your email, and I'll forward them from mine. Feel free to follow up if you want. They claim they had them, and prices were low, like $3 a piece with a 10 order minimum, so it wouldn't even be a great loss if they sent me junk or nothing, but I invested in soldering to the pins in back instead :)
I won't get it all installed for a month or so while I get my G8 console parts together, so I won't be able to say if the solder works or not til then, but I don't see why it wouldn't, and welcome anyone who could tell me if anything is wrong.

Going to try and get in contact with these china guys and see what they got.

But if you do not have the connector on the board me myself I wold go something along the lines of two of these items mounted to the side of the case:
http://store.haveinc.com/p-52852-canare ... -blue.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Seems there was enough room for them. Maybe would have to modify the cage a bit to get the silver box to slide in and out easy with them installed. Of just pry the cage out of the way when inserting the silver box. Not like you are going to ever have it out again in it's lifetime.

Just an idea.

Quick update here. Programed the radio today and the soldered connections worked great.
Here are a few pics testing the video with the TV out on my phone.
Reverse and RSE both showed the video properly.

Hello! Sorry in bring this topic back in discussion, but I want to know if anybody was successful to unlock the VIM/ remove the grayed out "driving lockouts".
I´m really trying to find a solution for this without shipping to AU, that here in Brazil will cost me a leg and an arm for this (seriously).

I appreciate any directions for this, hardware to connect to gmlan I have! :)

Thanks!

None of the pictures are functional here, anyone have the circuit board layout.
