Front Face Assembly On Signal - Amp Wire?

Post by smwalker »

So never noticed it before and not even sure if the wire exists but there is something called Front Face Assembly On Signal that is tied into the rear speaker wire bypass on our cars. Not sure what they would use it for but I wonder if it could be used as a 12 volt positive or negative signal to turn on external amps. Since we have determined the PPV radio does not have this feature built in I am wondering if this would be an alternative. I will update with findings. Anyone ever look into this?

no such luck. That is actually the Mute wire. When a ground is applied when radio is on the audio mutes and the screen says something like "Voice In". Think that is the feature they talk of in the police guide where officers can listen to the radio out of the rear spekers but once some voice traffic comes over their radios (and I guess those produce a ground while they transmit) it will mute the radio.

Terrible description tho, front face assembly on.
