Power Window issue

Post by sardillim »

I have been having an intermittent problem with my power windows. About a month ago the driver's door window stopped working and was stuck in the up position. I can hear a relay clicking when I hit the switch. I assumed that since all the other windows worked that it was the motor so I ordered a new one. Two days later the window started to work briefly but then got stuck in the down position. That night I got into the door to try to get the window to stay in the up position, in doing so the window came back to life and has worked ever since until today. Today the driver's window stopped working again for about a 1/2 hr. and then started to work again but now neither rear window will work. Is there a dedicated module for the power windows?

Some have wires separating inside the insulation causing an intermittent connection. Check inside or near the boot at the door hinge area. (Where it bends and pulls every time the door opens and closes)
Lightly tug on each of the wires- if one feels "stretchy" it's broke inside the insulation.

SO there is what is called a "logic module" on the 11-13's But all that seems to be responsible for is the "Auto Down" feature on the two front windows. I ran across it before it is mounted high on the passenger side kick panel pretty much in the dash. I would investigate the frayed wires, that seems more likely to me.

Those seem like some clean cuts. Any damage to the rubber boot?
