Interesting symptom

Post by nstg8r »

So when I first got the 2011 the back windows worked just fine and it's gotten progressively worse and now the symptom seems to be 100%, what am I talking about you ask? Well the back windows cannot be controlled unless... are you ready for this? Unless the drivers door is open. I'm hoping to dig into it this weekened once I get it back from the tranny shop. Has anyone else seen this very odd symptom? Or is it just me?

I think you will find that the wiring between the door and the car is broken or cracked. Many folks have had issues with this including myself, symptoms vary a lot from intermittent doorlock and window control to issues with the radio. I would peel back the cover in that area and take a peek, reconnect any wires that are cracked and see if that remedies your problem.

Take a look at my thread here that details and shows some pictures of the carnage.

I figured it was something like that, was just curious if anyone had seen similar symptoms and where they looked to find the offending wire(s). That will help narrow my search, thank you!

My door lock button does not work when I open the door most of the way, but I can grab the bundle of wires and wiggle the wires and the lock switch will work. If I only crack the door open a couple of inches, the door lock switch works fine. One day I will get around to check it out, but work seems to consume my free time.
