Factory 'Weather Tite' connectors?

Post by CrashTestDummy »

I was going to PM Steve on this, but thought it might be good to have note of it in the Electrical Forum so others can use it, if necessary. I have a Weatherpack set with many connectors, insulators plugs, and the proper tools so I can work on our 90's vehicles. I've noticed that our 200X vehicles seem to use something different. I think it's called 'Weather Tite'?

Can anyone correct me, AND point me to the right source for these things? I think Steve has had trouble finding the plugs the connectors insert into, but I guess we can just hit the local junk yard and harvest those with wire cutters.

EDIT: There seems to be some discussion of pins and plugs here:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1578&start=10

But other than locating a couple of pins with pigtails, I'm not seeing much of a source to purchase the parts, except maybe from Japan. Does anyone have a good source? Thanks.

You have to be really specific on which plug/connector you are referring to as I have found in the same harness you can have ones from Yazaki and some from Tyco. THere is not a specific manufacturer that was used throughout the car.

But the suppliers I have had the most luck with are:

https://www.mouser.com/

https://www.digikey.com/

https://www.corsa-technic.com/category. ... gory_id=47

And by luck I mean they sell in small quantities. THere are some others out there but they went to crazy minimum quantity orders.

Thank you very much for the info. I was thinking that I could grab a couple of the larger connectors, like you used in your fog light wiring kit, to power my new LEDs. I plan to use one of the unused sockets on the fuse block next to the one you suggested using for the fog lights. Other than that one connection to the car, I figured I'd use my Weatherpack bits to wire the rest of the LED light curcuits.
