Pinout and Connector End View Information

Post by smwalker »

I just figured out how to print out the pinouts so they are readable in a PDF will be adding more as I get time. Please let me know if they display all right for you. Also these are hosted on my google drive. Please download a local copy for yourself. Remember this information is usually not available in most free online manual services. I cannot attach them to the board as they are PDF's so if you know any reliable (free) services that will hold PDF's for ever let me know.

These are the master lists for connector end views and inline harnesses for our cars and related cars. These are in PDF format so you can search keywords. SEARCH HINT: Use the PDF viewers search feature not the browsers (option under the 3 dots on chrome)

Definitions:
Component Connector End Views - These are the plugs that plug into something like a shifter, module, switch. You will only see information on one connector because the other connector is molded into the part it is plugged into and is usually not serviceable.

Inline Harness Connector End Views- This is a plug that is in the middle of a harness. You will see information for 2 connectors (male and female)

I am only going to post model level pin-outs. So they will not be specific to year. So if you have an 11 you might see some information on a knee airbag but your connectors won't have those wires. I will try and post the model that has the most information as it relates to all years. If we come across major differences we may have to post the specific years. Lets see what happens.

WN 2014+ - Component Connector End Views

WN 2014+ - Inline Harness Connector End Views

G8 - Component Connector End Views

SS - Component Connector End Views

SS - Inline Harness Connector End Views

The Inline Harness Connector numbers are based on the GM vehicle zoning numbers. This is helpful in finding a connector when you do not know what it is called. Can look at 10 instead of 200!

All grounds, in-line connectors, and splices have identifying numbers that correspond to where they are located in the vehicle. The following table explains the numbering system.

A little trick I will add in here. Since the data in your cars listing for connectors is so bad what I have found works is search the Service Connector part number in this PDF and see if they have a different number for the OEM connector information. They usually do. This is a document for people building motor homes out of trucks and what not. Whatever it is they seem to have the correct information so it's a good cross reference:

Steve,
VERY good resource. Thank you!!
Just a word of caution though to the rest of the forum... Please check and double check, follow circuit numbers, wire colors etc. when trouble shooting or repairing. GM is not 100% accurate on the information they package and put into any reference materials.

Regards,

Maurice

Very True Maurice!! We have seen wrong pictures of connectors. Connectors pictured with 16 cavities and pinouts that only show 6 cavities. Wire colors being off. And the OEM connector numbers I do not think have ever been right. So yea this is just a starting point. You usually still have some work to do to confirm the information!!
