Both 14 and 15s have the same cable system that the 11-13s have where the key merely pulls a cable that is connected to the latch. The same hole where the key is on 2011-2013 is present on 2014 cars without camera and 2015 cars with camera.

If you were willing to lose the key hole on a 2011-2013, I am confident that the 2015 PPV molding would bolt right up to an older car. Crazy Paul could probably confirm this as I would be willing to bet the part number for the 2015 Caprice PPV molding is the same part number used on any 2007-present Caprice with a rear camera option.
Here's what I find listed:

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oe-gm/92255935" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; “molding” - 2011>2012 w/hole

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oe-gm/92263704" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; “molding” - 2012>2013 w/hole

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oe-gm/92263706" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; “applique” – molding/trim panel, no hole

There is also an earlier Caprice molding with no hole and the letters C A P R I C E molded into the part--Scott Walker's (novadeuce) PPV has this part installed....shown here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=461&start=20#p5940" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

These parts (grille & molding) were supplied by CP, but I don't have the PN's, nor do I recall what model years they were used.

I don't know if WM Caprice (through 2013) ever had a rear camera from the factory. There are plenty of aftermarket options, but I do understand the desire to keep OE configuration whenever possible, but it generally means greater cost, too.

Earlier today I was looking at a 2015 Buick Regal, just as an example--the rear-view camera sits in the license plate pocket, pretty much in the same place Steve placed his key lock cylinder, and it looks like it would be an easy fit in the PPV bumper cover, in the same basic position--I just haven't been to talk to my parts guys yet, but I'll be there on Friday. That leaves the key lock cylinder on the deck lid un-molested, or subject to being covered by the "no hole" moldings that are available.

Well I am still learning about the various offerings overseas of this car. I can't say for sure about every year starting in 2007. I did some digging and found a 2012 Holden caprice sales brochure printed in Australia. It shows the rear camera as an option as part of a audio upgrade of the IQ radio The back up camera shows to be in the same place that it is on the American caprice ppv for 2015

I think for those that want to go down this road, an OEM set up could be had for a 2011 to 2013 caprice though I bet it may require some parts that may not be available here and probably more costly and most likely programming will be needed

Looking at the pictures in the brochure I can't say for sure if it is the exact same trim piece of the 2015 PPV because the camera looks like it sunk in a little bit where is the 2015 camera it basically flush but one thing is for sure it is in the same place on the chrome trim in the middle of the trunk

Garner,

No worries--it's evident that the back-up camera was offered at some point, at least on the Holden WM (non-US) version of Caprice. Identifying all of the parts and procuring them is the challenge, since that stuff isn't in the GMNA parts book....unless it's the same as the 2015 PPV, and that would take some research by CP or someone else in Australia to validate a back-fit to 2011-2013 cars.

Any programming requirements would typically be handled by WAMS (Chris White) http://www.whiteautoandmedia.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or by some other means that someone may be aware of.

The trim pieces listed are only those we have access to here, via GM parts--and we know there are other versions used outside the US, at least for the WM version.

It makes more sense to me, from the standpoint of complexity, to stay away from the camera in the deck lid as far as retrofitting, regardless of whether the trunk key access is retained, thus my mention of the Regal camera placement, which is common with a number of other (GM) vehicles. The SS sedan has a camera--closest "cousin" to Caprice--and I'm pretty sure it's in the bumper cover, too.

Camera in bumper cover: 2015 SS - I have pictures, but the car is RPGM (almost black), sitting in showroom, with low light, so the camera doesn't show up well

Click on this link to see the illustration and how the camera fits into the bumper cover:

No idea if it would fit into PPV bumper, but I intend to find out.

The parts bin offers multiple choices for a camera mounted in the bumper cover/license pocket.

Additional in-bumper cameras from current (2015) GM production:

Buick Regal
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oe-gm/22801897" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - camera (no illustration online)

Buick Verano
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oe-gm/22806051" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - camera (EXPENSIVE)

Chevy Malibu (rear-view camera module) 2013-2015
also used on additional applications - Volt & Lacrosse
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oe-gm/22883286" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - camera
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oe-gm/20905763" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - bracket (specific to Malibu)

As might be expected, the Malibu/Lacrosse/Volt camera appears to be the lowest cost of these I've listed, and the SS sedan camera previously listed, most likely as a function of the total number of parts in circulation, with Malibu as a higher-volume sales model compared to all others mentioned (not that camera is standard in Malibu where it may be in a greater percentage of the others). There are no doubt more applications with different PN's and pricing.

Have not researched camera system harness to determine whether they may be stand-alone or integrated into a full vehicle harness.

Now that I have my new ride I'm making a list of the "I wants". Doing very little searching I found this...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Reverse-Rea ... fA&vxp=mtr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and this...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/CCD-Color-Car-R ... SwVFlUE7KB" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

on ebay. The one listing says it's designed to work on all Commodores from 2007 on up. This seems like a clean way to add the camera without a fuss, if it indeed fits. The first thing on my list is pulling the radio and getting the mods done to activate the rear camera (as well as other things), then I'll see how to do it.

I haven't sent my radio and BCM in to Chris for reprogramming yet, and I want to wait until then before I buy a camera.

Here's my rambling thoughts on the matter... The camera that replaces the license plate lamp isn't that desirable to me anymore. I'm concerned about it being a bit off center. This might not be a big deal, but if I can make it on center I'd prefer to go that route.

So, my latest thought is http://www.ebay.com/itm/HD-170-Dgree-Wi ... Sw5VFWKQZh" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and drill a hole between the 2 license plate lights to mount it. The concern here is that the image will be upside down. Products like http://www.ebay.com/itm/170-HD-Anti-Fog ... 1859124651" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; show it mounted in both configurations causing me to think that the camera is adjustable either physically or electronically. Of the two designs, I prefer the first, it seems less noticeable.

The plus-side to putting the camera in this location is it's easy: there's no need to move lock cylinders, drill holes in sheet metal or run wiring off the truck lid. The downside is not being able to see the bumper for distance relationship. For this I'm considering some proximity sensors in the bumper, especially at the corners. I'd prefer some independent distance readout for each sensor fed back to the radio display, but that's a tall order. I'll probably have to settle for just an audible warning. But I'm also concerned about drilling viable holes for $10 Chinese products. :)

why not just use the generic ebay tag holder mounted camera if you are concerned about the centering or the idea of moving the lock cylinder around? I've had mine on for a year, no problems and worst thing was having to drill a hole behind tag area for wiring....

Personally I like the stealth look but would have to see what the image looks like once installed. I think the plate mounted cameras look about as tacky as stick on LED lights and emblems from Autozone.
