Chris, is your programming update put on a flash drive and then uploaded through the Tech 2, like the "factory" updates?

Crap, I ghetto rigged one for bench use but there is no way I could use it in a car and I have a guy who wants to come up tomorrow with his new car to be programmed! I have to see how quickly I can get the J-Tool for it :\ Our programming is a 6 step process one of the steps is indeed the USB flash drive but we don't utilize the Tech 2.

MDI?

Chris,

Sent you a couple of e-mails... one was a reply regarding video connectors, the other was a link to a list of Caprice PPv's for sale...

I wish! It would be far cheaper; we have our own special sauce :) We don't use any GM stuff for these, FAR to limited in this application.

Ok so I just ordered the correct cable for these things next day air for $160 #!%!#ing dollars ARGH. Hope it shows up on time LOL

Tom I'll check my email here in a minute!

I got my radio out and is boxed and will be dropping it off for FedEx Home/Ground server. Hopefully it will get out of Dallas on time and you should see it Friday or Saturday.

Yeah, it is a major PITA go get these radios out and more so when it is cold but I let the car heat up so the plastic was warm and not ice cold.

It takes a loooooooong time to get the interior warm enough if its freezing out, the backside of that dash gets basically no airflow since its all directed into the cabin. Now I just have to figure out what the easiest way is to access the USB connector in car so I can program a radio tomorrow (hopefully!)

Chris you can access the USB port by removing the side console trim and cover under the steering wheel. When I was taking out the IQ I could see and access the plug with just those parts removed. Sorry no pictures, but that should be all you need to do.

Side note. I think the climate system remembers the last setting when unplugged. Mine was set to blower high on defrost. Also the dome lights go off when IQ unplugged and inop.

Hey Chris,

What is the distance between the pins for the USB connection? I meant to measure that when I had the unit... I might be able to source the connector...

Thanks!
Tom Slick

I've got it, thanks! :) EDI requires a handshake so that part kind of sucks :( Can still use the DVD player input though! :D
