Nah it's just a car, I'm just happy that my wife was okay. I had full coverage insurance on it minutes after the purchase and a week before I left for Indiana to pick it up. I did on the other hand have to wait four and a half weeks on the title to show up. Insurance took care of everything and gave me $1,000 towards a new car! So I flew up to see the guys at Chicago Motors and drove this one home!

Sounds like you came out pretty good in that deal. Yeah, getting the insurance on it ASAP is the thing to do. If for nothing more than there's so much that can happen that's completely outside your control.

Walking away from a mess like that is a testament to the build strength of these cars!

That was an interesting paint job on the first car. Was it a total repaint, or did they just shoot the fender 'vents' in body color? We got the 'vents' painted body color on our car, and I really like that.

It was very poorly plasti dipped. After she wrecked it we peeled some off, they scratched the hell out of the car removing the sheriff's department stickers. It's sad because it was an 11 silver metallic car :(

So, tomorrow..... I'm going to have the car on the lift... I am going to do the console swap. As I mentioned in a past post. I have all of the Series 1 G8 stuff... I also have all of the 9C3 stuff.... EXCEPT.... The center support. Which, is still on back order, with no further information... The way I figure it... Worst case scenario, I use all of the Series 2 stuff, and do like tedwards0633 did, and cut some wood blocks.... If all goes in a timely manner, I intend on removing the tow bar as well. (has no wiring loom, so it must have been for a bicycle rack) Since it appears that the mufflers need to come off to easily remove the tow bar. I'm going to see what the Ebay G8 axle backs look like. (the car is just too quiet... .)
Many pictures to come

Okay, so the center console is in the car! I think I have found a way that we can put these consoles in our cars without needing the center support specific to the 9C3. It does however involve butchering up a series 1 G8 "shifter trim" (the piece that the shifter screw to and the trim pops into. What I wound up doing, is cutting the support portion out, and screwing the new bezel trim to it. My phone was dead, so I did not get pictures of the canabalization. However I will post pictures of what I cut off. I broke the 12v tray that I had, so a new one is on order. When I take the trim back apart to install, I will take pictures of what I did to make it work. I am super happy at this point! I Jerry rigged the tap shift to test, and it functions as described, with no gear display, and no saftey shifts. My pins for the bcm are on the way!

There are 2 tabs with holes in them, if you gut the G8 trim like I did, you can drill 2 small holes in the support area that you cut out, and screw the new bezel to the trim. The new bezel sets right on if you cut the G8 piece properly. I used the series 1 trim plates. The tabs on the ppv bezel set right in front of the rear shifter to trim screws..

Got the 12v tray today. Trunk button is still just hanging out for now, also the pins for the BCM came today, Tap-a-Shift is wired in and functioning. Obviously with no gear display, and it doesn't present sport mode. Heated seats are next, and TC buttons kicks performance mode and lights up red. I didn't move or delete the window switches... I haven't decided yet. I have contemplated a passenger switch painted black to open cutouts ....
