I was having trouble with the intercooler piping blowing apart. Even at low boost. I found this cool trick for a makeshift bead roller and it worked great! It was making around 7psi and holding good. It was super rich so I'll up the boost some and see how far I can get!

I used these harbor freight pliers to make my beads.

So, I didn’t realize this was you!!!

Pleasure to meet ya the other day! Thanks again for the console! Keep an eye out for the new build! Once I really get started on it I’ll start a thread for it too!

Yep! With that being said I got a couple updates!. I traded my g8 center console for a shifter box from Dustin Manning, and he is giving me paddle shifters to go with it! Great deal and I'm super excited about it.

I also got this gauge pod mounted, just screwed it down with some self tappers, I'll probably get some of those black screws later. But I still need to get an oil pressure gauge to fill the empty slot.

So far I've pushed it to a peak of about 7psi But it usually stays around 5 on pulls. I'm getting ready to swap out wastegate springs and up the boost some. It's still super rich so I have a little room .

A couple BIG updates.

First, I got my paddle shifters in but have hardly had a chance to use them. Install was easy and the instructions were easy.

Next update, I ordered 1000cc Snake eater injectors! So I should have some more room to turn boost up

Update #3. I SPUN A ROD BEARING! I got fuel in my oil. So im thinking maybe an injector stuck or something? Wouldn't suprise me because they were at 120% duty cycle. Which is why I ordered new ones. I really hope my cam and lifters are ok. I was super bummed at first. But now I'm excited to rebuild!

Update #4. I bought a LY5 5.3 short block last night. Which is a gen 4 with iron block. So as far as I know I might have the first 5.3 caprice? And I think the 6.0 is still going to be good enough to rebuild. But I haven't pulled anything apart yet. Here's the new 5.3.

After posting on the Facebook page, I learned my heads wouldn't work. And that meant my intake wouldn't work either. So I picked up this 2012 longblock yesterday for $250! It has a failed dod lifter. 170k miles on it. And it has the 243 heads that I need. Still praying that my cam and lifters survived in the 6.0

If you pull the wiper blades off and remove the plastic cowling, it will make the reinstallation of the engine a lot easier. I would drop the trans into the trans tunnel, drop the engine in and the bolt the trans to the engine. I had to pull the engine & trans as an assembly on my first Caprice due to the engine being hydrolocked. I did not want to slide the torque converter out of the front pump and it was not fun.

Does the engine you are dropping in have the correct reluctor wheel on the crankshaft? May want to look at the cam position sensor. Can't remember what year they changed from a 24 tooth to a 58 tooth crankshaft reluctor wheel.

I appreciate the tip! I was actually getting caught on the cowling on the way out. I do think I am gonna try to put them back in attached just like I pulled them out though. I'm doing it alone so i'm not sure I would be able to lift the trans up to get it bolted in from underneath. It came out pretty easily together.

As far as the reluctor wheel, Both of the 5.3s I bought have a 58x (2007.5 and up). HOWEVER, i will be putting the 6.0 BACK IN! I haven't edited and posted the video yet. But once I got the engine out I found that ALL my flex plate bolts were backed out about 1/16 of an inch. The movement of the flexplate is what was making the sound I thought was a knock. Also the metal shavings I found were ONLY in the filter, and I couldn't find any anywhere else in the pan. I believe they were leftover from when I drilled my oil pan for the turbo drain. Everything else in the engine looked GREAT.

I'll be posting the video so everyone can get a visual of the flex plate movement hopefully tonight.

if you haven"t already. please
