Wrecked 2011 Caprice - parts & components for sale

Post by elc32955 »

I ran into a Craigslist ad this morning for a L77 for sale out of a 2011 Caprice, under 1K miles. I called the lister of the ad in Ashville, NC and found out that he has a Georgia car that was hit in the left front, purchased from insurance sale. Car is basically intact with the exception of the seating which has been sold (seller tells me it was leather... dang it!). Didn't think to ask if it was a 9C1 or a 9C3.

Engine and tranny are out of the vehicle. Price is $5K on the engine/transmission assembly complete including wiring harness and exhaust with cats. Other parts are available including body and interior components, cluster, Holden iQ, etc etc.... This is not a salvage yard, it's a kit car building shop so there's a better chance of good quality parts here.

Seller is Tom, Total Racing Performance Motor Sports, Ashville, NC, 828-713-3303. Text only, his voice mailbox is full and not monitored.

Let the parts fest begin..... :)

I texted the guy about the Radio unit, Radio/HVAC control panel, and PDIM (if equipped)...

Asked how much, and got the response "Yes fair market price"...

Let him know that the 2011's and early 2012's were Design 1, and from early 2012 and on were Design 2...

How much you guys think I should offer him?

Depends on his idea of fair market - take a look at the link to Cleveland Pick-A-Part's e-bay store for the G8 listings and see what some of the similar items are going for, then work from there, if you can find items for G8 that match up in any way with the PPV equivalent.

I asked the seller for a price on the stereo and the cluster as well this morning about 11 AM, although when I saw Tom was hot on the stereo I backed off that. I offered him $150 plus shipping on the cluster (2010 and up Camaro clusters are selling on EBAY for $99.99 and up, median price about $130-140) and I got a text response of "let me look I own a shop" and then nothing.

We'll see what tomorrow brings I guess..... If anyone's close to Ashville this might be worth a road trip to check out the car and maybe snag some pics for posting.

Thanks Eric!

I had texted him last night, offering $200 for them... didn't get a response...

Eric, are you wanting one to discover all it's secrets, too? :-) If so, maybe we can work together on it! I work for Klein Tools, and one of our electrical engineers said he would help out.

I'm wondering what he will come back with!

OK folks, the cluster and the Holden iQ unit are now sold from this car, rest of parts pretty much still available except for seats. Note that this car has under 750 miles on it when it was totaled!

I'll be up there on the 21st and I'll take & post some pics when I get back.

Thanks

Spoke to the owner of the wrecked PPV at length, he said he'd e-mail me pics and never did.

The engine/trans combo for $5K is a steal. Would look nice under the hood of a B-Body!
