I agree that is personal preference. I have over $50k in receipts including the $10 I paid for my 2013. The stereo's suck in the 2011-2013. 2013 are the worst year of all because the rear speakers don't work. You can do a 9C3 detective shift conversion to the 2011-2013 if you wanna make it look like a G8. The 2014-2017 Have Better Stereo and Column shifter which was 3 years too late. As soon as Police Departments saw the shifter on the floor when they first seen the New Caprice it was dead. You cant have a shifter underneath a laptop..just doesn't work! After I had my dealer install a new crate motor (after the stupid DOD system broke a lifter) mine has been very reliable. My car came from Dennis Mass and was ran 24/7 and not taken very good care of. I have a wicked case of OCD and have went through the car inch by inch making it perfect. They are not cheap to own but they are a Chevy and you can always fix whatever and it will always be a rare car. I have owned every police sedan they have made in the last 20 years. This Caprice is the biggest, fastest and most interior room of them all! If you find one that needs a engine for cheap I would snag it. This engine begs for a DOD delete kit. A fresh rebuild/DOD Delete give you 60+ hp right off the bat which make a huge difference since this pig has highway gears in it. I added Factory Carpet, Factory Remote Start, Had the Stereo Unlocked, Added the Factory Holden Rear Back-Up Camera, G8 Trunk Lid Carpet, Havis Police Console, 9C3 Hubcaps, Removed the Spotlight and New A Pillar Trim Piece, Replaced all the damaged interior plastic pieces. I have put about 60k miles on it since I got it 3 years ago. Its a little faster than our Police Departments 2017 Caprice. I would sell mine!

How much would you sell it for?

Not really Caprice related, but my unit specifically ordered civilian Explorers for resale value and we all have laptop stands with no issues interfering with the shifter. Some intrusion on the cup holders but as long as you stay away from those monster sodas you shouldn't be drinking anyway it's workable. Plus it's vastly more comfortable than the pursuit versions. I requested a Caprice with our last order but they wanted everybody to have the same vehicle and got outvoted. Just thankful it wasn't another Charger...

Back on topic, I am dead set on getting a 9C3 for myself but they are a needle in a haystack. I've seen the write-up on the console conversion, but I have yet to find anybody come up with a carpet setup that works without leaving gaps or having fitment issues (I understand the Caprice is a slightly longer wheelbase than the G8 or something that causes the gaps at the rear?) Also, I despise vinyl and leather, so it would have to have cloth front AND rear. So unless you guys can further detail the way to make a 9C1 convert to a 9C3 that would make it worthwhile to invest the time converting a 9C1, it would appear that a 9C3 is the only way to go to get 9C3 level fit and finish. *Granted, fit and finish on a used cop car is a relative term, but you know what I mean.*

Recently picked up a 2013 9C3 that was a flood car. I thought about transferring the interior into my wife's 2011 9C1, but after I started looking at all of the work required, I will have to wait until retirement before I would tackle that job.

Besides the console, carpet and numerous other items, you would will also have to change out the front door panels, as they moved the switches from the door panels on the 9C1's to the console on the 9C3's. This would require a wiring harness swap or some modifications.

One thing that was a pleasant surprise, the 2013 9C3 had speakers in the rear doors that work, unlike the 2013 9C1 that does not have door panels with speaker covers or much output to the speakers that install under the door panel. So if you want to do close as possible 9C3 conversion on a 2013 9C1, you will also need a 2011 or 2012 silver box, plus different rear door panels.

The 9C3 is certainly is a lot more fun to drive with the TUTD shifter, plus you can deactivate the DOD if you put the shifter in manual mod.
