New Engine Installed @ Chevrolet Dealer

Post by ejf2461 »

Well this week has not been friendly to my wallet. I picked up my 2013 Chevrolet Impala 9C1 from the body shop
and my bill for painting everything except the 4 doors on the car was $3200. On my way home from the body shop the
Chevrolet dealer called and said the Caprice was finished. The dealer installed a new crate engine and both left and
right lower control arms and did an alignment for $9700.The engine has a 3yr/100k warranty. This morning while
sitting an idling the check engine light came on. I hope its nothing big. At least now I have a backup vehicle again.
The dealer had gave me a 2018 Equinox LT to use while the Caprice was there which was a cool little vehicle!

jesus man!!! not to be an arm chair quarter back, but what made you decide to go with the dealer and do a factory engine as opposed to a 408 or something like that?

I called Lingenfelter and talked to them when the dealer gave me the bad news. They said they couldn't start on it for 8 weeks and it would be 13k for 550hp with dyno & custom tune. I lease my vehicle to my PD and use it daily for my own off-duty gigs so I needed it back ASAP. Unfortunately you cant go to ACE or National and rent a police car with emergency lights and police plate. I had to take the car back to the dealer for a check engine light which was the wiring to the knock sensor which they fixed for free. I did pay the additional $600 for the core engine. It already had the heads taken off and the camshaft removed. I plan on putting a DOD delete kit and LS3 cam and better lifters/springs as I have it put back together. These engines even used are kinda pricey.
