Oil Pan Removal

Post by Draven8795 »

Seems like there's enough clearance to get the pan out without doing much on these cars. Needs a new pan gasket. Anything I'm missing that would require the engine to be raised up or the steering rack to be moved?

Remove nuts off motor mounts. lift engine 2" shove some blocks in to support it. remove pan. drill rivets, replace gasket, new rivets and reinstall. not bad job at all.

70ft lbs from the trans through to the oil pan seems way excessive? Anyone know if that is correct?

Tighten the two transmission bellhousing bolts to 37 ft. lbs for a manual transmission and 70 ft. lbs for an automatic
transmission.

70 in-lbs or 70 ft-lbs?

That's huge torque.
