Blend door actuator relearn?

Post by Karma_Police »

My passenger side vents are warmer then my driver side vents. They also seem to blow slightly weaker than the driver side - but this is marginal. I suspect that either two things are causing us, a blend door that is stuck or not working correctly, or my freon level needs to be checked.

On this forum (http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/ve- ... ement.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) , it seems like the commodore has a blend door relearn procedure by holding down the rear defrost button. This did not seem to do anything for me. Is there an equivalent procedure for our cars? Also, I think the blend door actuator for dual zone is located on the top of the dash rather than by the footwell areas (I checked pass side and only saw recirculation/windshield/foot area actuators, all seem to work fine there). Can anyone confirm the location of the DZ blend actuators?

All installs of new components in the HVAC system refer to this procedure that is mostly automatic:

This is for a 2011

Maybe unplugging everything and re-plugging would start a big relearn?

Yup, going to try that. If that doesn't work - I'm seeing a lot of G8 guys saying that low/improper Freon level gave them similar symptoms - one side warmer than the other. Bizzare but quite a few members mention it.

Refrigerant could be undercharged or even overcharged.

Pulling the F2 fuse (HVAC BATT) did nothing. Battery reset did nothing. Going to evacuate and refill system next. Thread you linked mentions 18oz refrigerant capacity, can anyone confirm? No stickers under my hood and I do not have the FSM. It is 2011.

18 oz HFC R-134A, 3.3-4.7 oz total PAG oil capacity. Vol 2, Page 10-4 of the 2011 Helm FSM is the source.

Eric
That's directly from the GM service manual (Helm) for the 2011 PPV, note the volume & page number for reference. I'd give you a scanned page copy but I'm not hoisting that large book up on my scanner.
