Budget g8 headers

Post by ryanswit »

Looking at picking up a set of Pacesetter headers mainly due to the price when compared to kooks. I was wondering how much you need to modify them to fit around the oil cooler, because if into not substantial, I probably will go with the kooks.

It's my understanding that you have to remove the cooler for them to fit. It's not a matter of 'hammer adjusting', the headers just fit too close to the block and occupy the same space the cooler does. To remove the cooler, you need a block-off plate and G8 radiator hoses. That, or an aftermarket cooler adapter, lines to a separate oil/air cooler, along with the G8 hoses.

I was curious about this myself,do all brands of G8 headers work for our cars? Also what are the problems you're having with the pacesetters?

Pretty much, if it will fit the G8, and you have removed the factory oil cooler, the headers will work on our cars. You just have to get that cooler out of the way.

did you need one or two of extension wire kits for the o2 sensor with the pacesetters?

I just used one. That was the general consensus on the G8 forums and it has been working for me with no issues.

Is it only g8 parts that will work or would 05-06 PONTIAC GTO ls2 exhaust headers work as well with the oil cooler moved

Chevrolet SS headers will work WITHOUT removing the oil cooler. Everything else requires removal of the oil cooler.

Does anyone have a picture or drawing of the oil cooler and where it interferes with headers
