2014 Caprice rear speakers
2014 Caprice rear speakers
I saw a 2014 Caprice online.I asked the salesman if it had rear speakers. He said it had no rear speakers. Can speakers be put in easily ? My 2013 had a factory radio and it was a major production to get power to the rear speakers.I do not want to get involved with a big project if I buy the car.
Re: 2014 Caprice rear speakers
There are no speaker holes in the door panel, there may actually be speakers under the door panel. Hooked up??? Who knows.
If you don want a major production this ain't the car for you!! Everything is a production with these things!

There are speakers in the rear doors of a 2014, just no grille. You can drill the hole out and/or add your own speaker(s) to the bottom of the door panels and just tap off of the speaker wires there.

Does anybody know if this is also true for the 2015...2016...and especially, the 2017?

Re: 2014 Caprice rear speakers
my '15 has speaker in the rear doors. the door panels don't have openings. however, gm parts said picture in their system shows that the back of the panel is marked for a cutout. I'm going to find out this weekend. if that's the case, easy to cutout and use aftermarket grille.SBRMD wrote:Does anybody know if this is also true for the 2015...2016...and especially, the 2017?

Re: 2014 Caprice rear speakers
There may be a cut out on the back side, but the issue I saw when I looked into doing this is the interior arm rest is specific to the 9C1 cars and it is just bolted on partially covering the area where the speaker is behind. This was the cheapest way to develop a special door panel for the police car that specifically had no speaker grills or map pockets to hide contraband or weapons in. I think the only way to put an aftermarket speaker grill is to relocate the speaker location in the door.
If you look at a Caprice from other markets you can see the rear door panel looks like our front door panels. The arm rest/door pull handle is farther rearward on the door than compared to the 9C1 and it has map pockets that start from the speaker grill and extend down.
Im wanting to get door panels from Australia but I dont know how easy that will be and will probably cost a mini fortune.

Re: 2014 Caprice rear speakers
What would that take?
And, has anyone tried to install 11-13 rear door panels in a 14-17 car?
