Alarm Activated by Hood?
Alarm Activated by Hood?
Has anyone seen the message "Alarm Activated by Hood" on their gauge cluster? This alert randomly will flash when I start my car and I've noticed since this alert has flashed the following has happened:
1. I can no longer use the autostart feature on my key. My autostart is the option from the manufacturer and not aftermarket.
2. When the car is locked, the panic alarm will randomly trigger at times whenever the car is locked.
3. When I unlock the car, the panic alarm will sound, but the horn sounds are not as loud and shorter in length than as described in the issue mentioned previously.
Does anyone know how I can remedy this issue? Thanks

Who did the BCM programming? White? Or GM?
Re: Alarm Activated by Hood?
Do not think any cars came with the remote start from the factory? You did not get it new did you? Someone did it along the way.
But it does sound like the hood switch is faulty. The engine will not remote start with the hood open. This is to protect mechanics when they have thier hands in the engine.
Here is the wiring diagram for the Hood switch:

Re: Alarm Activated by Hood?
My remote start is definitely from the manufacturer. It was an option on the 2011 models. It's a 2010 build, one of the first brought over to the USA to be a manufacturer demo. It even came stock with Holden display and the zone climate controls and AM radio, is programmed for Australian builds.
Re: Alarm Activated by Hood?
Ah Yea I guess I could see that on a Demo car, they would want to show off everything.

In a past thread, RPO code BTV is mentioned as an option:

Re: Alarm Activated by Hood?
How would the hood latch play into this? Is there a sensor on it? I figured a hood latch was nothing really more than a lock for the hood.
