Brake Speculation
Re: Brake Speculation
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I didn't read this until I already tackeled the project. The fronts went on well reusing original bolts (calipers were drilled and tapped to m14 2.0) If I can figure out how to post pics, I will. As for the rears, I found out the hard way that the 2014 SS rotors were identical in size to the stock ppv. So now I am torn. Use stock ppv calipers with the rotors I have in front of me, or do I order the larger 2015 SS stoptech and do the complete swap I intended? I already have the cts-v rear brembos refinished and loaded with new pads.

Re: Brake Speculation
someone out there would probably buy the "wrong" rotors from you--not everyone will be doing the Brembo conversion....between this board, G8 Forums and SS Forum there are plenty of potential buyers.

Re: Brake Speculation
The 2015 SS slotted stoptech rears aren't in production yet. Zeckhausen was super helpful and said they'd probably be rolling out in April. I'll be sending my rears back and waiting for the larger ones. For now, I'm super impressed with the front conversion and (f&r) stainless lines. If I hadn't already purchased, refinished, and put new pads in the rear brembos, I'd be happy running stock size slotted caprice rotors. The most difficult part of the entire conversion was removing the old bolts. I highly recommend the swap. Pedal feel is greatly improved, the aesthetics are fantastic, and on a spirited test run/bed in, fade is gone. Now I'm 3 part numbers shy of my ls3 cam swap and manifold back exhaust.

Re: Brake Speculation
Just to throw yet more confusing options into the pile, I discovered these:
http://store.revolutionbrake.com/14-0268b.html
Not sure they'll work, but the vendor has a 355X32mm rotor using Wilwood calipers. Not cheap at $1150, but it's pretty complete for front brakes.

Re: caliper fasteners for Brembo installation
Navy Lifer wrote:DISCLAIMER - this is a first stab at this, and I'll be happy to edit/correct as appropriate. The info is based on what I was able to glean from the GM parts books at the local dealer.
Most common approach seems to be the use of early CTS-V calipers due to their lower cost, so it is necessary to make a choice on the approach taken to do this properly--see discussion further down.
Caliper bolt sizing for Brembo conversions:
Fastener size for PPV front caliper mount to upright is M14, rear is M12.
First generation Brembo - CTS-V and G8 GXP front calipers mount with M12 x 1.75 bolts
Second generation Brembo - includes CTS-V (6-piston—also on ZL1 Camaro), 2010-2015 Camaro SS, and 14-15 SS sedan--all use M14 x 2.0 bolts for front calipers.
Fastener size for all Brembo rear calipers is M12 x 1.75
OE fastener list for Zeta platform – G8 GXP, Camaro SS, PPV, SS sedan:
PPV standard (single-piston) caliper mounts:
F – 11570092 (M14x2x51) (common with Camaro V6)
R – 92172963 (M12x1.5x40)
Brembo caliper mounting fastener list:
F – 11570788 (M14x2x56.5) (SS sedan, Camaro SS/ZL1)
R – 92139080 (M12x1.75x45) (SS sedan, also used as FRONT for G8 GXP)
R – 11515781 (M12x1.75x60) (Camaro SS)
Banjo bolts & crush washers:
Bolt - 11569590 (sourced from Camaro SS) - M10x1.0
Washer - 21012386
In the process of adding Brembo front calipers to a PPV, if using 1st design calipers (04-07 CTS-V or G8 GXP), there are two options:
1. Modify the caliper mount ears (on caliper body) by re-drilling and tapping to the M14x2.0 thread spec. This is an aluminum part—the question/concern would be whether new threads would be durable enough to mount the calipers and apply the proper torque specs without the threads yielding. It would be possible to install a threaded insert (Heli-coil or similar) for this purpose as an alternative. Use bolt PN 11570788.
2. Install a bushing in the upright positions to reduce the hole size from 14mm to 12mm—an appropriate bushing would have an OD of 18mm, so it will be necessary to open up the holes in the uprights to fit the bushings to provide the 12mm hole for the “correct” bolts – PN 92139080--note that the alternate bolt 11515781, is 15mm longer, but far less expensive. A spacer combined with the longer bolt may be a reasonable alternative.
My preference would be to use method option 1, as I believe it would ultimately be more robust--GM changed the caliper mounting to 14mm fasteners for a reason....if I had some later calipers, this would not be an issue, but I chose the early CTS-V path, so I've got to make a choice.
Torque values for mounting Brembo calipers:
Caliper bolt (F&R) 30 lb/ft +90 degrees
Brake hose fitting - 30 lb/ft
Bleed valve - 13 lb/ft
See update on rear bolts, posted here: http://www.ssforums.com/forum/1420849-post15.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Brake Speculation
Perhaps it was answered already but did anyone nail down the appropriate shim/sleeve that could be used to avoid redrilling the front bolt holes from 12mm to 14mm? I'm thinking Im going to need to turn a set if I go the sleeve rout.
I have a set of 2014 SS calipers coming so trying to do my homework. Btw will the PPV break hoses work on these calipers?

Re: Brake Speculation
what are you redrilling? If you have purchased camaro SS calipers they will bolt right on?
Re: Brake Speculation
Correct me if I'm wrong but the SS/Ctsvgen 1/Camaro SS fronts use 12mm bolts and the PPV uses 14mm. Thus a sleeve to use a 12mm in the 14mm nuckle hole or drill & tap caliper to 14mm.

So the answer is which calipers do you have ?

Ok my bad, now I understand, being 2014 SS calipers they use the 14mm bolt. I made the assumption all the 4pot fronts were 12mm but as you clarified only the first gen Ctsv calipers are.
