DOD Delete

Post by Franco802 »

So 2 months ago my caprice dropped a lifter, yeah nothing new. I knew it was inevitable, just a matter of when. Car has 83k miles and 6,500 of those are idle hours. I am in the middle of a full dod delete and putting in a stage 1 cam. So far I purchased a dod delete kit from Texas Speed, new lifters, new oil pump, o-ring, LS6 springs, seals, and will be sending heads to machine shop for clean up as it looks like this engine lost a spark plug tip sometime in its life. Caused some minor dinging on the head, but nothing the machine shop won't be able to clean up.

Cool deal. Are you getting it tuned remotely, or taking it to a shop?

I just purchased everything for my dod delete.

I am in process on DOD delete also ! (Texas Speed kit)
Also sending them the heads for a CNC.

What are you guys doing about the oil pump,
are you changing it with the shortblock in the car?

I am now tempted to pull the shortblock to address oil pump and tensioner . . . then possibly replace converter . . . ugh, when does it end?

Didnt do the delete on my car but several fbody cam swaps. Oil pump always done with engine in car, and this car has way more room IMO. I dont see an issue with it.

I did everything in car. The pan is easy to drop and there’s a ton of room in the front of the engine.
