Front cat delete

Post by 5150Bullys »

I have 2013 caprice, straight piped... I developed an exhaust leak behind the front catalytic converter... replacement is 1200, and shop says they can’t find after market ones that fit the angle from manifold...

I’m considering a front cat delete... opinions?

Had an issue with my front cat when I had a PPV, put up a WTB here and I found a replacement for <200 bucks. Try that one. Though it's tough because the scrap value is sometimes so high it's not worth it for people to go through the selling hassle. Good luck.

Not sure what you mean by 'straight piped', but the factory connection behind the front cat is a ball-and-socket type connector, so has a bit of off-angle ability and still make a good seal. When I installed our G-Force cat back exhaust, I went with the Solo high-flow front cat and no rear cat. That provided the added advantage of getting rid of the big restriction in the head pipe the OEM part has. They also have a bit of flex pipe upstream of the converter, which will allow additional adjustability.
