Camaro or Cadilac CTS-V trans pan upgrade?

Post by Capeasy »

Hey everyone I'm struggling with which part numbers are up to date . Most of you guys who have already switched to the deeper trans pan have probably used the GM#24250062 pan with the #24236933 wide mouth filter. But that pan /part number has been discontinued from GM even though there are a few still out there for sale. But the new number is a #24297104 pan , after several phone calls to the GM performance techs they say it may be dimpled where the oil pickup would be but cant confirm without comparing to the earlier pan. And they couldn't tell me for sure if the p/n # 24258269 big mouth filter with the extension snout is correct for that new pan. I agree with a reply by S.Walker's that the extended snout may be to close to the pan and may hinder the oil pick up flow.
Any thoughts on this subject would be appreciated.
Thanks
Walt

The 6l80e Tahoe pan is the exact same one without the plug.

Interestingly when I look at rock auto for the original part number this one comes up 24290418. I can’t find any pictures of it though.

Pace performance says their kit is available 2-3 days after ordering. https://paceperformance.com/i-8434163-g ... -6l80.html

Yes that Mystery pan from Rock auto ending in p/n X0418 has no application or fitment chart. I even searched several GM forums and couldn't find anything, maybe it's a recently added replacement part number. I can always get the Pan/filter/gasket kit # GMP 24250062 for $73.88 from Pace like many others have done and it's a sure fit they just want $55 shipping. I got spoiled with Amazon prime. Lol
Even the GM Dexron VI had a part number change from 88861954/ AC Delco 10-9030 to the 8886502/AC Delco 10-9395 it's supposed to be improved according to GM and it's almost half the price of the old part number. I just ordered two gallons from Amazon for $18.75/gal. I'll wait till it arrives to actually see if it's still a synthetic blend like the old part number. ;)

Here is a picture of the 24297104 pan. Was able to scoop up a new one off eBay after my order for a 24250062 went on a 1-2 month back order and then was cancelled. Not sure if this view answers your question about the oil pickup from the filter, but the bottom looks smooth. Can get other views if needed.

Yeah it is smooth without those dimples the GM tech was referring to. And it doesn't look like it has a drain plug either, but that's not a big problem to drill and braze or tug weld a nut on the side near the bottom and install a 1/2-20 drain plug like I have done on several other "Sealed" transmission pans. And which part number seems to be the correct pickup for that pan?
Thanks for the photo.

There is a drain plug on the flip side under that dark colored collar/riser. From what I can tell it looks the same as the original part # from pictures I have seen.

It’s less of a drain plug and more to check the trans fluid level in the sketchiest of ways lol

I have not found the one with the fluid check plug anywhere except eBay, other than for a ridiculous price from a dealer that may or may not be able to get it.
