So today it was time for regular maintenance, while i was under the hood i decided to do a little experiment. (my car) you cant still feel the notch in the pedal travel with the car NOT running. I was able to unbolt the master cylinder and slide it forward with the lines still connected. With the master not connected to the booster i slightly depressed the brake pedal and the notch is still there . This tells me that the issue is inside the booster.

My 2011 does this as well. When your under the dash with pedal up you see a "clean" spot on pushrod. After the pop/click in pedal the boot has moved up now hiding the "clean" spot. No coincidence in my book. Haven't taken it apart yet but it's a booster or maybe pushrod issue. Maybe odd wear or alignment in there???
