Brembo swap

Post by Black6 »

So I did a brembo swap.

Image

ZL1 calipers. 2 piece rotors. Navy Lifers braided stainless lines.

Straight bolt on. Easy. Kept stock dust shields and all. (Bought ZL1 dust shields, but they did not work)

Rears were more challenging. Attempted to use camaro rotors. Didn’t work. Bought new SS rear rotors. Direct bolt on, but the dust shields hit.

hoses are M10x1.0--both the flare fitting to hard line (pressure joint) end, and banjo bolt size.

Did mine a little while ago with CTS-V calipers and two piece front rotors. Rear rotors are also CTS-V with the cross tubes and bleed nipples swapped. Having had the CTS-V and ATS-V, I love the Brembo 6 piston feel.

SO you used the Dust shields from a 2015+ SS OR trim the stock caprice shield. Those are the options when going to the 360 MM rear rotor?

You must trim the stock one, or at least that’s what I did. I posted up a general how to and what to expect.

You could use 15+ rear dust shields. I didn’t because they are very expensive and have to pull axles to swap them out. Just cut them.

In front I just left stock dust shields on it.

Thanks... I have the front ready to swap. I just need the rear calipers and rotors then I was going to drop it off at my mechanic so he can do all the brakes at once....
I need to tell him what to do. He is way old school....

It’s not hard at all, fronts are bolt on. Rears just need new bolts and trimming of the dust shield.

I know this post was two years ago so there’s some pictures missing. To be clear though ZL1 calipers will bolt directly to the front end with no modifications? With a 2014+ rotor? Also do you have a Instagram by chance would love to see pics.
