Looking for help to remove/replace radio in a 2011

Post by dorqus »

So I just got a 2011 Caprice PPV, and I'd like to send the radio out to White Automotive to be re-programmed, get BT enabled, etc. I'm horrible at removing plastic trim, and I'd be nervous about breaking a crucial piece or damaging something somehow. I'd be willing to pay someone to come help me do it (or do it all themselves) then once I get the radio back to help me put it back together. I am technically inclined and have done more than my share of work on cars, I even used to be on the service team for a SCCA Rally Team, but this seems to be a sensitive process and I'd heat to damage something and then I don't have any radio at all! I'm located north of New York City, you can PM me for details if you're available to help, or if there's an "idiots guide to removing/replacing the radio" that someone could point me at.... Thanks so much!

So Looks like I just found this posting here:

Two things of importance to remember:
- Take your time and be very gentle with the two plastic appliques. They are delicate and replacements are NLA new.

- Disconnect the antenna connector before pulling the box out. It is located on the left side behind the plastic dash frame that would break it if you try to pull it out.

Follow that thread and you'll be fine.
