Back up camera wiring

Post by Car54 »

So my car came without the backup camera.

Is there wiring in back of the car that I can connect to should I get a camera?

I know I need to either change out my trunk moulding to support the camera location…

Or

I’ve seen the ability to install one where my trunk lock cylinder is.

The silver box would need to be shipped out to Chris White and get it unlocked.

I have installed a camera in the keyhole of my '13. I love it. I believe I put my installation in a thread. I did run my own camera wire (simple). There may have been a coax or appropriate run that I did not notice. As mentioned, it's simple. I believe I went a "high" route - under the A-pillar, partly under the ceiling material and working around the door trim. In the back I think I ran a coat hanger to fish the line into the trunk next to the rear seat. Once threaded, you can hide the wire behind the trim.
If you can't find the thread here, I'd be happy to look up which camera I purchased from Crutchfield. I didn't have to perform as much surgery as Steve Walker did in his write-up. The camera seemed to fit right into the keyhole. I did fabricate a small bracket to hold the camera in place.
