Trunk release

Post by Car54 »

Trunk release works on both doors with the key on. It also works from the remote.

But… doesn’t work when key is out and car is off. Is there a way to fix this? My SSV Tahoe, Saturn shoot my sons ‘97 Lesabre works with key off.

BCM, fuse, connect this to that? What make it happen?

I believe it's programmed that way because it's a police vehicle. All police vehicles that I know of were like that. Not aware of a different BCM programming option to change that.

Being a police vehicle I can accept that, a bit ridiculous if I may say.

I bet it could be changed without much effort. The BCM triggers the relay to open the trunk, but the power to that relay is hot at all times. If I wanted to do that on my car I'd simply change the wiring right at the BCM so the trunk switches directly controlled the relay, without involving the BCM.

Found a work around the BCM on the 11-13 but 14+ was a bit different and we cannot get to the relay as it is soldered to the board:
