Wiring The Center Speaker

Post by Z09SS »

I've got an Australian silver-box and have been, slowly, getting the thing fully functional.

The back-up camera took a year to get working because I wasn't very motivated.

Now I am preparing to get the center speaker connected...

Not that I have a center speaker to connect, yet...

But we have wires!

They are close to the factory colors and I had them laying around in my box of wires and electrical stuff. I think they're left over from putting an LT1 from a '96 Impala SS into a '91 Caprice.

Blue goes to pin 10, orange goes to pin 9. Blue is the (-) signal, orange is the (+) signal.

Today the terminals for the quad-lock connector arrived. I am entirely too proud of myself for figuring out how to use the crimping tool.

I got the terminals from Mouser, https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Ap ... zjlw%3D%3D.

Next I need a speaker. I was thinking this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EDTSXQ2/?c ... _lig_dp_it

Of course, this will require that I upgrade the door speakers too... Perhaps these? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C772WFA/?c ... _lig_dp_it

Having fun with my car again!

Please keep us posted on the front door speakers. I definitely want a set.

How does the center speaker work? Are you referring to a center speaker in the dash or in the back? I think the deck behind the rear seat will accommodate 2 speaker (l,r).

I have an Aussie box as well (not as nice as yours I think - no indigenous navigation). The factory speakers (mine anyway) sound "not so good". I am so read for an upgrade.

I'm going for the 5th speaker in the center of the dash.

I'm not treading new ground, I watched this video.
