On a positive note, I did put in the plastic pieces that were missing from the rear of the console as well as replace the armrest pad with a better looking one. Also replaced the leather shifter handle which was marginally better than the one I had. Parts I got from a guy on FB that was parting out a G8.

Yesterday, I installed the new downstream sensor to replace the one that the shop fubared. Well, turns out I didn't notice that the other one was also f*cked with a heater circuit error. I didn't see it because of all the other codes.

Today however, all those bad memories got erased (or at least put on the back burner). Went to International Dyno Authority in Ottawa. I was coming back from a bank appointment and just dropped by to make arrangements for later but said they could take me now. Cool. They were quite concerned that it could be running lean and possibly could cause damage because of the headers and exhaust system. Anyway, those fears were allayed when it was actually running very rich and gave these numbers. Pretty much as expected and almost bang on to specs. They were surprised that it didn't go lean with the headers and no tune. Maybe something GM did to the stock tune because it's supposed to be a cop car?

Then the initial first tune. Not a bad little bump but the curve got flattened nicely. Wally was just getting warmed up.

Then a few more adjustments and passes. We were literally holding our breath and they were getting as excited as I was and couldn't believe the amount of power this thing could pull. This was the final tune pass and it was oh-so-close!

And he also tuned the tranny shifts and adjusted the traction control to not be as aggressive. This thing is now a beast! It never broke traction on the 1-2 shift and it now also slightly breaks on the 2-3 shift!

Put together a quick video.

Quite happy with the results. My cheeks hurt from the perma-grin!

PS: I didn't even need that new sensor since he turned off both post-cat sensors. Wish I knew that before, could have saved $100.

PS2: The plugs in tail pipes didn't make much difference and in fact, made slightly more power with them in. They lower noise marginally but they do reduce drone quite a bit while cruising. And I was running 87 octane so using 91 would get me over the 400 mark.

That's very impressive for just exhaust work!

Definitely a pump over the stock 355hp, 363hp rating given in some areas for the car.

The car is completely stock besides your headers and exhaust now?

400hp is pretty epic for the price point you can get these cars at.

Yep, bone stock except for the exhaust and my intake resonator delete. Would have been interesting to see the numbers with the stock exhaust, which could have been even worse, since it's so restrictive.

Next thing will probably be a cam however my plate is full for this year and want to do it in a proper garage. Sick of working in the driveway. Should have one built this summer.

Do you have a thread on the intake resonator delete? What's all involved?

Pm that stuff if you could.

Thanks moose.

Gotcha, didn't realize by resonator you meant the stock air intake. My mistake.

Put some heat insulating tape on the A/C muffler can that needed to be bent out of the way for the headers. It's still close and didn't like all that extra heat being put into the system. This stuff actually has an insulating material rather than just a simple reflective tape and should help.

Those are some awesome gains, and surprising for 87 octane. I am curious what it would've made on E85 (I heard E85 was hard to find up North though).

The awesome crew at the dyno shop were the ones who squeezed every ounce of power out of this thing. They were having absolute fun working on this Canadian unicorn. Heck, they had a new Z06 Vette on there just before mine and were like "Ok, cool, made some more power". We were screaming at the screen when we got oh-so-close to that 400hp mark.

And yes, no e85 here AFAIK. And 87 pump gas is crap here but surprisingly, it did pretty good (Costco).

Now my problem is traction
