2014 Phantom Caprice mods

Post by maximoxxdi »

This is my 2014 Caprice In phantom black with the L77 and the mods I've done to it. After looking at several G8s and deciding they were too old and overpriced, I decided on the Caprice and have no regrets. I knew that I wanted at least 2014 for the updated interior and I also wanted the V8. I found mine from a small dealer in Miami who specializes in selling used government vehicles. I was able to get a decent deal on mine with 104k miles and 5k engine hours. The interior was missing some things but that wasn't a big problem. The car was mechanically perfect except for the tires, I already knew that I wanted to swap wheels so again, not a problem. The exterior isn't great either but that was reflected in the price. The first thing I did to the car was to get all the A and B pillar plastics as well as a console. The next thing was wheels, I liked the idea of using 20-inch Camaro wheels and was able to find some off a 2019 that looked brand new with zero damage. I paid $400 for all 4 with bad tires and threw on some Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 summer tires. I have done some more things since then and will start posting those mods as well.

Next on the list was to add some switches to the center console. With the upfitter guide, I was able to find the pinout for surveillance mode and the flashing front and rear lights. Since both these features work on my car, I really wanted to be able to have access to them. Since my car has the Nenno center console, the metal plate looked like a perfect place to add switches for those modes. Along with that, I also added a custom toggle switch that I made with resistors to be able to control what gear the auto trans is in. I used HP tuners to turn on that feature because downshift noises. The first switch is surveillance mode, the second is flashing lights, the third is manual mode on-off, and the last toggle is up/down shift.
