Screwed over by insurance

Post by Tom Slick »

Monday morning I was pulling slowly out of a parking space... as I was stopping to put it in drive, I got rear ended.

The driver side corner of the rear bumper of their car hit the driver side back bumper of my car. You can even see the scratch marks that prove that they were moving when it happened.

They claimed they were parked... In the middle of a parking lot lane???
I told their and my insurance companies that we were both in motion.

Needless to say, all the proof in the world didn't help... their insurance denied my claim, and my insurance is covering theirs. So much for honesty being the best policy.

At the worst it should have been a no-fault accident.

I'm really disappointed in my insurance company.

Looks like in getting my back bumper repaired again!

Thanks...

Was thinking about getting a spoiler and having it painted while they are painting the bumper... or a set of side markers... but that $250 deductible kind of screws that up...

You want to trade for a video connector?

well, something like that....I've got over $200 in the spoiler, between purchase & primer/prep, so I didn't know what that would get me...just offering to help get you to something you've expressed interest in (albeit not the official Caprice part, but it works) without more cash outlay other than the painting.

How much is the actual hardware (connector, camera, etc) worth?

Just an offer, if you would like to have it--I'm not hung up about price, so making a rear camera work, equipment-wise, seems like a fair trade, unless the hardware is really pricey.

This may or may not be a representative part that will work on PPV--should be plenty of others.

The video connectors are very hard to come by... I had to work a little magic to get 10 of them (the components to build them...), and I have only assembled one...

It has the video connectors for the rear view camera and the RSE video...

I'm seriously considering the spoiler...

I bought a camera for a Buick Park Avenue on Ebay...
