oil pressure

Post by amx1pxp »

Into my DOD delete - finally. Just about have the heads off. I wanted to get some baseline oil pressure numbers before I tore it apart but there is no oil pressure indication that I can find anywhere in the various dash displays. How are you guys monitoring oil pressure. Aftermarket gauge?

Thanks,
Paul

You can use an OBDII tool (like Elm 327 - about $14) and phone app (like car scanner - free I think) to see your oil pressure. You can also see lots of other "vitals".
For extra credit, you can show the gauge values on your Android supported radio. This is tricky since getting Android support on these cars is challenging.

Thanks Gamma. I'll give it a try. I'm thinking maybe I could find it somewhere with HP tuners as well.

SOrry to hijack but, has anyone personally been able to successfully get oil pressure readings from the torque pro app? I am trying as I type this with no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

What year is yours? I'm not sure that ELM327 adapters work on 2014+ vehicles.

probably a little late to reply, but I just finished my dod delete. I attached a mechanical guage to the oil port at the back of the engine when i first fired up the car. After that I got the torque pro app and there is a way to monitor oil pressure through the settings. I have a 2015.

Thanks for the info guys, mine is a 2011. I was finally able to get oil pressure to work in the paid version of the torque app. But I would be interested in putting in a mechanical one at some point.

There is a PID for oil pressure. I monitor it when data logging. There is also a low oil pressure alarm that will go off on the DIC if the pressure drops below 25psi at high rpm or 5-6 psi at idle for more than 10 sec. I hope you never see it! ( I have)
