Upper Midwest Tuners
I’m wondering if anyone in here has a recommendation for a tuner in Minnesota. I know Twin Cities Performance offers full dyno tunes, but I don’t wanna get a $1000 dyno tune, add more mods, then get it tuned again. I’m looking for a tune once I swap the rear end and cam it, and then one later on for boost. Have people had good luck using HpTuners or something alike? Any feedback appreciated thanks.

HP Tuners works great on our cars. The learning curve is pretty steep in the beginning though.

Gavin,
There are a few tuners that can send you a tune file to upload via HP Tuners. Find a tuner that is very familiar with your modifications, gear swap, cam, headers etc. And then ask about the cost of re-tuning as you go for boost. I have had good luck with Chris Henry Motorsports. He has worked on G8's, Caprice's and SS's. There are other tuners out there also and I would suggest you ask a lot of questions before you pick one. You can data log your car after uploading the first tune and it can be tweaked to fine tune it.

Maurice

Re: Upper Midwest Tuners
Black Bear Performance appears to be located in northern Idaho, but they do (or used to) travel to other areas to do tunes when they get 'group buys' together in an area. While they don't specifically list the Caprice, they do tunes on GM vehicles, and do a decent job. They used EFILive on our '10 Tahoe. Not sure if that was because I already had EFILive installed on a laptop here, or if that was their preferred tuning software. They state they used several different brands.
Email them to see if you can do a remote, of if they plan to travel to the Twin Cities area. Otherwise, as Maurice says, Chris Henry is a good one to go to.
