Exhaust Cutouts?

Anyone done ‘em? I’d love to keep the stock sound and have switchable cutouts down the exhaust somewhere. Where would you/have you put them? Never done any exhaust work besides putting on a cat back so this is new to me.

I'm wanting to do the same. Too old to listen to full exhaust all the time and my wife would never ride in the car...lol

I haven't dug into it too much yet, but I'm thinking about ditching the set of resonators before the mid muffler and putting the cutout there.

That looks like a good spot, I thought those were secondary cats though?

I don't believe they are based on my research, but I could be wrong...

Those are the "pup" cats...

Does removing them cause any issues with inspection, throwing codes, etc?

Removing them won't throw a code. They are after the O2 sensors that measure catalytic efficiency. They are providing another cleanup pass through of the exhaust gasses. Inspection will be dependent on the knowledge of the and how critical the inspector is. The cutouts would indicate there has been modification to the system.

Thanks!

I can’t see these inspection guys around here knowing anything about these cars 😬

I installed Badlanz cutouts downstream of the catalytic converters at the first 90deg bend. They are a shit ton of fun, silent to chaos in 5 seconds. But they will eventually loosen up and leak. I've had to replace one motor since install because it froze up. I installed them tightly tucked into floor pan because my Caprice is lowered, and I used an angle grinder to remove prone material from the cutout housings themselves. I'll take pictures sometime this month as I need to perform some maintenance soon.
